Sixth Form College
* Planned opening September 2025 *

Our sixth form welcomes students to undertake a range of A-level programmes in a supportive and welcoming environment. All students on our regular enrolment undertake three A-level subjects (one extra subject may be taken for an additional fee) and our unique Career Technical Education programme.

We only accept entrants to the sixth form college at the start of year 12. Students who have completed some or all of year 12 or 13 elsewhere, may still be accepted but will ordinarily restart year 12 with us, and will need to be under 18 at the time of entrance.

We welcome students who may have taken a 'year out' after their GCSE studies to join us at the start of year 12, as long as they are under 18 at the time of entrance.

In designing our A-level portfolio, we worked backwards from the most popular career and degree programmes, identifying the necessary A-level subjects that applicants require at the best universities. We also looked at what makes a student excel in their career and stand out as an individual - we've built in our Career Technical Education (CTE) programme to engage students in real world study of the A-levels they're taking in the classroom. This is an incredibly valuable and unique programme to foster the talents of every student.

To help students in their A-level selection, we have put together pre-timetabled subject combinations based on the most popular A-level and career selections.

Career Technical Education (CTE) - Beyond the classroom

In addition to A-level study, all students undertake a weekly programme of Career Technical Education (CTE). This is a highly innovative programme that aims to allow students to explore specialist skills in a chosen career path, undertaking company sponsored projects and engaging with industry experts in the chosen field. The programme provides students a unique opportunity to grow beyond their A-level choices to explore their potential career in the real world while also gaining specialist technical skills. Early exposure to real world practice through this programme will  also significantly enhance University applications.

We currently offer five CTE strands:

  • Business and finance- Students engage in study and practice of: psychology of change management, strategic marketing, finance and investing, quantitative business analytics

  • Engineering - Students engage in study and practice of: mining, fuel industry and environment, mathematical physics, physical computing, transport engineering

  • Medicine and science - Students engage in study and practice of: bio-chemistry, mathematical physics, applied physics, health professions

  • Computer Science- Students engage in study and practice of: app development, cryptography and national security, physical computing, quantitative business analytics

  • Humanities - Students engage in study and practice of: psychology of change, archaeology, archival research, teacher training
