Our difference:

What we do differently and better than other schools

A Mercantile School. A mercantile or merchants school is focused on developing the academic and personal skills for children to enter the world as academic and technical experts in their chosen fields of study. From the infant stage, we are focused on developing the mindset and abilities for our graduates to become the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders.

Challenging curriculum. We’ve built a comprehensive curriculum to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century with in-depth coverage of sciences, engineering, technology and foreign languages.

Traditional values. We believe in traditional values such as good manners and respect. These values are ingrained in our students. Our values of think-communicate-collaborate-overcome-excel underpin all our activities.

Sensible rebellion. Most importantly, we foster a spirit of sensible rebellion in our students – we want them to disrupt the status quo and forge new and better ways of doing things.

A fair approach to student fees. Our fees are much lower than other private schools – putting a top education within reach of working families.

High quality education. A lower price doesn’t mean lower quality – we have a comprehensive and engaging curriculum as good as, if not better than, any other private school.

Small class sizes. The smaller the class, the better the education. We cap our classes at 20 students. A smaller class lets the student build a better rapport with the teacher and receive the support they need, when they need it.

Focus on the fundamentals. We spend a lot of time on English, maths and science to make sure that every student is absolutely on top of these fundamental subjects.  This focus includes coverage of basics such as times tables and English grammar.

Positive members of society. We want all our graduates to be positive humans - highly academically qualified but also emotionally and socially mature, confident individuals having a positive impact on those around. We blend academic, technical social, physical and emotional education to create positive humans.

Real world engagement. We believe education shouldn't happen in a bubble. We want all our teaching to be grounded in the real world and to engage real world activities - whether it's bringing in journalists to talk about writing, financiers to talk about maths or patent holders to engage in science - we connect the classroom to what's beyond it.

Proud to be British. We celebrate our place as a British school, covering in depth British history and debating the topics the affect modern British society.

Valuing every student. For us, ‘different’ doesn’t mean ‘not as good’. We want every student to realise their potential and will help them to do so.
