High School
* Planned opening September 2025 *

Our high school is divided into three stages:

  • Junior High School - years 7,8 and 9

  • Senior School - years 10 and 11 (GCSE study)

  • College - years 12 and 13 (A-level study)

We will welcome students joining into any year group in our Junior High and Senior School at any point through the year, subject to a place being available.

During the high school years, pupils will continue to follow our curriculum model with a focus on looking beyond the horizon to explore their role in the world.

All students are working toward GCSE examinations. Students will complete only three compulsory subjects and then have free choice to select from a range of options, taking a maximum of thirteen GCSE exams in total. We have designed the GCSE selection system to give students the maximum amount of freedom while also appreciating that some students may want to focus on a smaller set of exams. Students may take any combination of subjects, but we recommend at least one science and at least one humanity.

GCSE Compulsory Subjects

All students are required to undertake three compulsory GCSE examinations:

  • English Language - AQA specification - responding to texts, descriptive and narrative writing, viewpoint writing

  • English Literature - AQA specification - MacBeth, Jekyll and Hyde, History Boys (or similar)

  • Mathematics - AQA specification - Number, probability and statistics; algebra, geometry.

GSCE Optional Subjects

In addition to the three compulsory subjects, students may take a maximum of ten optional subjects. We recommend taking at least one science and one humanity. Students have free choice to select any combination of subjects according to their interests. In year 9 we undertake a series of detailed career planning exercises to help students narrow in on the best subjects for them. We also run workshops during the summer vacation period for students joining us in year 10 to help them identify and select their subject choices.

Our current optional subjects are:

  • Sciences - Biology, Chemistry, Physics (each as a single subject)

  • Humanities - Geography, History

  • Languages - French, Spanish, Mandarin (2 maximum)

  • Technology - Computer Science, Design Technology

  • Social Science - Economics

All subjects use the AQA examinations board. For the most up-to-date details of the AQA GCSE syllabus, please visit: https://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects.

Career Technical Education - Breaking free of the classroom

In addition to GCSE study, all students undertake a weekly programme of Career Technical Education (CTE). This is a highly innovative programme that aims to allow students to explore specialist skills in a chosen career path, undertaking company sponsored projects and engaging with industry experts in the chosen field. The programme provides students a unique opportunity to grow beyond their GCSE choices to explore their potential career in the real world while also gaining specialist technical skills. Early exposure to real world practice through this programme will  also significantly enhance College and University applications.

We currently offer five CTE strands:

  • Business and finance- Students engage in study and practice of: entrepreneurship, marketing research, business contexts including sports, tourism, agribusiness

  • Engineering - Students engage in study and practice of: programming, engine design, mathematical physics, new materials

  • Science and medicine - Students engage in study and practice of: bio-engineering, chemical engineering, marine engineering, mathematical physics

  • Computing - Students engage in study and practice of: advanced programming, cryptography, app development, database analytics

  • The Arts - Students engage in study and practice focused on music and performance

Subject to regulatory approval, we intend to open admissions for high school (years 7-11) for September 2025 entry (any year group).
